How can we help you?

Backing up and restoring

OfficeTime by default automatically backs up your data on all devices.

Mac/PC. Use the menu File->Show Backups menu to see them.

You can change the location of the backups in the preferences. That’s Edit->Preferences for PC and OfficeTime Menu, Preferences for Mac.

OfficeTime also makes an extra backup when you upgrade to version 2 and when you first log in. These are both in the same backup folder.

You can make an extra backup at any time using File->Backup Now menu.

iPhone/iPad: Go to OfficeTime Settings, Restore Local Database. OfficeTime automatically backs up every time you open the app up to a max of 30 days history.

Restoring with cloud sync

With cloud sync, you’re automatically backed up as well online continuously. Simply download OfficeTime from www.officetime.net or from the iOS App Store and sign in again to get all your data back.

Mac/PC

If you’re signed into cloud sync and wish to add data from a backup, choose the File->Import menu and select or drag in one or more backups. It won’t create duplicates and anything you import will be automatically synced to your other devices

If you want to manually open an old backup, you must sign out first. Go to Help->Sync and choose None. Find your backup and double click it to open. You can use File->Show Backups to locate them.

If you wish all the data you’ve just opened to be synced out to the rest of your devices, then just sign in again under Help->Sync.

If you don’t wish to add this data to your account, then choose File->New File first and then sign in.

Restoring without cloud sync

Mac/PC:

Before opening a backup, you may wish to make a note where your current data file is so you can get back to it. Use File->Show File to see your current file.

Find your backup and double click it to open. You can use File->Show Backups to locate them.

If you open a backup and want to keep it, be sure to use File->Move File to rename it. OfficeTime won’t continue to backup files that have the name ‘autobackup’ in it.

Instead of opening a backup, you may wish to use File->Import and import one or more backups. You won’t get duplicates and it’ll add any missing data. Note that import, unlike opening, does not bring in your archived projects. You may wish to open the best backup that does contain archived projects and then import the other files to add any missing current data.

iPhone/iPad

Go to OfficeTime Settings, Restore Local Database. Choose your backup and confirm. You will then need to force quit OfficeTime.

Note that if you are cloud or wifi syncing, it may bring additions, changes or deletions over from your other device. If you turn off wifi on your iPhone/iPad before restoring you’ll have a chance to see your data before it is affected by any sync.
