Can’t decide? Here’s some guidance!
Sunshine?
Hate subscriptions? It’s a one off purchase. 🙂
Want to keep your data out of the cloud? Your data stays private and local.
You can sync with your other devices:
- Desktop <-> Mobile: You sync on your local wifi network to your iPhone/iPad and both OfficeTimes need to be open at the same time. (The mobile app costs an extra $7.99 USD one-off purchase in this plan but if you’ve already bought it before, you don’t need to buy it again.)
- Desktop <-> Desktop You can sync to another Mac or PC if you save your data file to a shared drive but you must close one copy before opening the other.
- Mobile < – > Mobile. If you sync both mobiles with your Mac/PC version, all 3 will sync.
Use on only a single computer? Sunshine Edition is a good choice.
Paid upgrades. Like all one-off purchases, eventually we’ll offer a paid upgrade to the next big release.
Freelancer?
Want to track on multiple devices without thinking about it? Cloud sync means your data is up to date on all your devices without fuss.
Use on any device without extra cost. Android is coming.
Keep your data extra safe? Your data gets backed up online. (I sometimes wonder what would happen if a break in took my device and backup. This solves that.)
Want to keep track which project is approaching budget? See handy budgets on the Mac/PC version.
Don’t like waiting for new features? Your OfficeTime is always up to date with the latest improvements and you don’t have to wait or pay for the next big upgrade.
Keep the app, always. One of the things we hate about subscriptions is what happens if the company goes out of business? Luckily with OfficeTime, your data is always local. That means even if you cancel your subscription or something happens to us, you keep all of your data and a working app to use it with. When you cancel, you keep the app forever but you no longer get cloud sync or updates. You can still sync like the Sunshine Edition above.
Business?
Have a team? You can easily share projects and see everyone’s time for reporting and invoicing. You can also do this with the Sunshine Edition by importing everyone’s files but it’s more of a hassle. Most customers when they consider the value of their time find it’s more cost effective to use the Business Edition. Learn more about the differences in sharing here.
Need thorough reporting? The Business Edition features additional options such as being able to break time down grouped first by month, and then by project and category.
Mission critical? We prioritize Business customers for support and can provide phone or Zoom support for teams.
Of course, everything mentioned in Freelancer also applies to Business.
Keep your data, always
Whatever you choose, there’s a 100-day money back guarantee and even outside of that, you can still get a refund on unused time if you cancel. Plus no matter which one you choose, you keep your data and a working app when you go.

I use the mobile app almost exclusively. I then email the report from OfficeTime to my Mac. I use Excel, Numbers and Quickbooks to manage the data. Will this workflow still work?
Stephen
Yes. Excel and Numbers are happy to get OfficeTime data. Quickbooks less so. The data will need ‘massaging’ before Quickbooks will accept it.
The mobile app doesn’t have any upgrade other than cloud sync in version 2. We have a big, new version coming.
