OfficeTime works well on iOS 7 and the new iPhones. But, like most apps, you probably want to get the latest update. While iOS 7 will automatically update apps, you can be sure by going to the App Store and tapping Updates at bottom right. The update solves a problem transferring data from the free to the full version in iOS 7.
Once you upgrade OfficeTime on your iPhone or iPad, you’ll want to upgrade OfficeTime on your Mac or PC too if you sync to it. If you don’t upgrade the desktop version, it will not so helpfully ask you repeatedly if its OK to sync which is a bit silly. To upgrade, simply download again from www.officetime.net. On Windows, the installer will update it for you. On Mac, just drag the new OfficeTime to replace your old OfficeTime. All of your data is kept.
Becoming a Real iOS 7 App
But working in iOS 7 is just the start. To be a real iOS 7 app, OfficeTime should look the part. Here’s an early preview on the right of what OfficeTime will look like.
Looks pretty easy, right? Just change a few colours?
In theory, yes. Apple takes care of most of the work of getting an app to look right in iOS 7. In practice, it takes a lot of effort to get it to look right in both the new iOS 7 and still have is work properly in iOS 6. How much work? Well, this is page one of many pages of issues we’re currently working on to get OfficeTime to look like a proper iOS 7 app.
Several developers, like OmniFocus and Clear have decided that it’s enough work getting ready for iOS 7 that they’d add some new features and charge for a new version. With all the work required I empathize. But I don’t like charging customers twice unless there’s real value value to be gained by the customer.
So despite our pages and pages of work, the next update to OfficeTime will remain free. Hoorah!
And you don’t have to wait. OfficeTime works fine on iOS 7 right now. Go ahead and update it or try the free version.
