UPDATE: The current release fixes all these problems. Check for updates in the App Store.
OfficeTime is having a couple teething problems with that shiny, new iOS 6 on iPhones and iPads.
iPad Landscape Mode
The newest OfficeTime doesn’t support landscape (wide) mode in iOS 6. The various popovers display in the wrong direction. The solution is to rotate your iPad to portrait mode before starting up OfficeTime. Yup. That’s a biggie and we’re working all out to get a fix to you.
(Interestingly older versions of OfficeTime work fine on the iPad. If you’re not syncing with the Mac or PC, you may wish to wait on updating OfficeTime. If you do sync, you’ll need the most current version to prevent crashes.)
Export to Excel
A few people have had trouble opening OfficeTime exports in Excel. Excel seems to get confused about any document that starts with the word “ID”. The solution is to simply turn off the ID column which you won’t need unless you’re super geeky. Go to home screen on OfficeTime. Tap *. Tap Export Format. Turn off the ID Column. Try your export again.
If double clicking the file doesn’t open it for you in Excel, save it somewhere you know like the Desktop. Go to Excel. Choose File->Open. Where it says “All Excel Files”, change that to “All Files”. Choose your file. Alternatively, drag the document onto an open Excel window.
If your data still doesn’t come in correctly, you can try importing it. Some versions of Excel don’t automatically recognize the csv format. Open Excel and:
Mac: Choose File->Import or on your PC,
Windows: Choose Data->From Text->Get External Data or Data->Get External Data->From Text (depending upon which version of Excel you have).
Follow the prompts choosing Delimited and Tabs.
Alternatively, many versions of Excel quite happily import the Numbers format (which is just CSV.) Go to your settings and change it to Numbers and try your export again.
We wish we lived in a world where apps never had bugs. We’re working hard on fixes! Stay tuned.
