activeofficeHave you ever considered exercise as a productivity booster? Sitting stagnant in a chair all day can put strain on your back, wrists, ankles, neck, etc., not to mention your brain! Try these simple tips to keep you feeling fresh all day long.

1. Every time you finish a task, get up and stretch! Clasp your fingers behind your back, tilt your head straight back and stretch out your muscles. Just a 30 second quick stretch can reset your focus and keep you from getting stiff.

2. Walk and Talk! Instead of having your meeting in a stuffy conference room, get up and walk the halls or the streets while you talk. The constantly changing environment will keep your ideas fresh with the added benefit of exercise.

3. Drink more water! Water has numerous positive effects on our health, but it also means more trips to the bathroom, which is a great excuse to get up from your chair. That 3-minute break every hour or so can add hours to your productive work time.

Getting up from your desk and taking tiny breaks will give your brain time to refocus on the day’s tasks. You’ll get a fresh perspective and be more willing to get the job done. Not to mention, exercising during the workday adds up! Just a few minutes throughout the day could mean adding 25-30 minutes of exercise to your daily routine, which will keep you fit and possibly lead to weight loss. A win-win for everyone!
