I’ve been getting reports a few people are having trouble launching the OfficeTime Apple Watch app for the first time. It just spins and goes back to the app chooser screen. So far this only seems to affect some people who already had an older version of OfficeTime and just updated.
The solution seems to be to reinstalling the iPhone app.
Naturally you want to keep your data so let’s discuss the best way to do that:
Option A – Sync with your Mac or PC
Download a free trial off OfficeTime for your desktop from www.officetime.net. Open it up. Then tap the * button on the main screen of your iPhone app. Tap Desktop Sync and follow from there to sync. Once you’ve checked you have all of your data on your desktop computer, delete the iPhone app and download again for free from the App Store. Open up the watch app to see if it’s working. Now sync again with the desktop to get all your data back.
Option B – Use the free version to keep your data
Download the free version for your iPhone
Open it up. Check it’s got all your data there. Got it? Good. Now delete the paid version of OfficeTime and download the paid version again. Open it up and voila! All of your data will be waiting for you.
You may also need to delete and reinstall the Watch app. Deleting apps on the watch is the same as on the iPhone. Hold down then tap the X to delete. To reinstall it, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, scroll down, tap on OfficeTime, and choose to show it on the watch.
Hope that helps! We’re looking into this! I wish version 1.0 apps didn’t have teething issues.
UPDATE: Option B works for most people but Option A seems to work for everyone. The trick with Option A is to launch the watch app first and then once its working sync with the desktop version. Maybe it needs to get warmed up before it jumps in the deep end. 🙂
