We write a lot about how time management and OfficeTime can benefit freelancers, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and more. But what about the big-wigs; the people who work in the corner office of one of those tall office buildings in Corporate America? Time management can certainly be beneficial for them as well. As a matter of fact, many of them (you might be one of them) got to where they are today because of their time and project management skills. However, even the pros have to learn new skills and tactics as a means of staying sharp and not falling into any bad habits. Here are a few tips that we often learn but forget:

1)Clear your mind, take a deep breath, and focus.

This may seem like an obvious one but you would not believe how much time people waste simply because they’re not focused. If you’re in an office environment then you most likely work the same hours every day and have a relatively routine schedule. If you can, get to work 5 minutes early and just sit at your desk, play with your desk toys or whatever distractions you have. After your 5 minutes is up, get that stuff out of the way and take a deep breath, it’s game time.

2)Organize, prioritize, manage, and organize again.

Take out a pen and pad and write down every project you’re working on.  Prioritize them based on how much you’re going to get from each, monetarily or otherwise. Once you’ve done that, circle the top 3 priorities and you now have your 3 projects to work on before lunch. If you’re in a position to delegate tasks, pick the bottom three and give them to a lower man on the totem pole. Now that you have your 3 projects picked out, answer the most basic questions about each; Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How?

It’s amazing how much time you will end up saving down the road by taking a few extra minutes at the beginning of your day to un-clutter your brain, organize your thoughts, and prioritize your tasks. With OfficeTime, you can do all of that.
