When dealing with business or even personal issues, there are many factors that could contribute to a great outcome. It is extremely important to start with a laser clear statement on what the outcome is that you want. Surrender to the fact that there will always be external issues beyond your control, whether for your project at hand, or your day-to-day workflow, or just life in general. The key to success in all of these areas is to not lose control and forget what you specifically want to achieve. Stay on track!

Untitled15Not only to deliver value but to deliver the exact desired result in an organized and viable format, consider the following:

Your outcome should be defined in a positive format; express and follow what you would like to achieve (and not what you don’t want to achieve). Positive statements have a way higher rate of success.

Time and Size are of equal importance. Set the most reasonable time to achieve the result. Do not rush; do not procrastinate. Remember to set “Achievable Time Frames” and benchmarks. The result should be big enough to have value but also custom-sized to your abilities. Both time and size should be set in advance.

Especially if you’re on a tight timeframe, be sure to track your time on the project and check it every other day – and have your team members do the same.  It’s easy to see if someone is on track – or way OFF the track – if they’re on one task for too long.

Describe the results, in writing. Spend time to define how the results will feel when the goals are achieved. You will then know when you are in the “winners” circle.

Now it’s your turn. Send me your thoughts. Was this helpful? Would you have a point or two to add?

Yours truly,
