Screen Shot 2014-01-16 at 1.02.30 PMWe’re a couple of weeks (more like over a month) into the New Year, have you started all of your business resolutions? By now, you should have a clearly crafted objective for 2014, but maybe you’re fearful that your resolutions just won’t stick. Here are some tips for making your time management resolutions work for everyone in your company.

  1. 1. Monitor your progress. So you’ve made the decision to cut down on procrastination by using a timer to work in short intervals. This seems like a surefire way to keep on track, but how often are you doing it? Keep a log of the activity and the duration of time you’ve devoted to giving your undivided attention to it. You might notice patterns over time that can help you get to the real cause of your procrastination.

  1. 2. Get back on the horse, quickly. Resolutions can slip through our fingers very quickly. Keep yourself accountable, but if you feel yourself slipping away from productivity, be aware of the situation, regroup –maybe with the support of your team -, and get back on the horse as quickly as possible.

  1. 3. Don’t beat yourself up and reward yourself. Resolutions are hard. We make them to counteract habits that we don’t like. Sometimes we fall short of our goals, but that’s no reason to start placing blame and acting defeated. Instead, notice the little successes and reward yourself, and your team, with small rewards. A simple thank you email or casual business lunch can really show your employees how much you appreciate them sticking to the end goal.

How will you push your employees –and yourself –to stick to your business resolutions through out the whole year, not just the first few months?

Until next time,

Yours truly,
